Joel B. Harley<\/strong> is the Kent and Linda Fuchs Faculty Fellow Associate Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Florida, Gainesville, FL. His interests include the integration of physical models with machine learning for applications in smart infrastructure monitoring and design.

Joel has received the 2021 Achenbach Medal from the International Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring, the 2020 IEEE UFFC Society Star Ambassador Award, a 2020 and 2018 Air Force Summer Faculty Fellowship, and 2017 Air Force Young Investigator Award. He is an associate editor for Structural Health Monitoring: An International Journal and is the Subject Editor on AI and Machine Learning for NDT&E International. In 2023 and 2024, he instructed a Short Course on AI for the Review of Quantitative Nondestructive Evaluation. He has published more than 100 technical journal and conference papers. He is a member of the IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control Society, a member of the IEEE Signal Processing Society, and a member of the Acoustical Society of America.
